Community Partners Working Together
Represeatives from Durham/ Middlefield Youth and Family Services, Local DayCare Providers, Home Child Care Providers, Durham Children's Librarian, Levi Coe Librarian and Represenatives of the Regional School Dirstrict 13 alll work together to serve on the Early Childhood Council. The Council meets monthly to plan activities and share resources to better serve famlilies of young children birth to 5 years of age.
The council explores resources, networks, and offers trainings that support families and childcare providers help prepare children to enter kindergarten.
On program the regional School District 13 Early Childhood Council has implemented is FREE BOOKS FOR KIDS! Parents look for opportunities in our community to receive a free book for your family. The local libraries, nursery schools, and day care programs will have books which were purchased through the grant for children in our community. Look for a list of suggested activities with each book. This program was designed to provide books for families to promote early literacy.
